Willem Francois Bouwer (Snr)
Willem Bouwer obtained his B. Proc from the University of Pretoria in 1981 and was admitted as an attorney the following year. During 2014, Willem obtained his right of appearance in the High Court.
During his university career, Willem worked for the Department of Justice and gained practical experience in the Master’s Office for four years (under the leadership of the Chief Master, APJ Bouwer – who was Willem’s father). Willem did his clerkship at Haasbroek & Boezaart and opened his own practice, WF Bouwer Attorneys, in 1986.
In the 36 years of WF Bouwer Attorneys’ existence, Willem was appointed as executor in approximately 450 estates and finalized the administration of the estates without being removed from office for poor administration. Willem is also regularly appointed as an independent executor by the Master Pretoria and Master Johannesburg and on occasion the Legal Practise Council, as a result of the complexity of the estate or where a former executor has been removed.
Willem further acts as Curator Bonis and Trustee in various matters. In the past two years, Willem has also regularly been appointed as Trustee in the so-called Special Trusts.
Willem is involved in the firm’s litigation related to trust and estate matters.
Because of Willem’s vast experience in the field of estate administration, he was appointed by the Legal Practise Council as Specialist Examiner of the Deceased Estate Paper for the Attorney Admissions Examinations.
Willem has been married for over 40 years and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren – an absolute family man.
