Rinette Basson

Rinette Basson is a Director and practicing attorney at WF Bouwer Attorneys Inc, where she leads the firm’s litigation department with a strong commitment to excellence and client-focused legal solutions. She was admitted as an attorney in February 2017, following the successful completion of her articles of clerkship, which she ceded to WF Bouwer Attorneys in 2014. She has since built a reputation for her meticulous legal acumen and leadership.

She holds an LLB degree obtained through the University of South Africa (UNISA) showcasing her dedication and perseverance in pursuing legal studies while managing other responsibilities.

Her practice areas include a broad spectrum of civil litigation, in both the Magistrate’s and High Courts, matrimonial and family law matters, with a particular specialization in deceased estate disputes, curatorship applications, life partnership claims and trust law. She has also attended to numerous mandamus applications launched nationally.

In August 2023, she was appointed as a Director of the firm, a testament to her commitment, leadership and legal expertise.

Alongside her legal responsibilities, she also performs HR- related functions and personnel coordination and management, where she mentors junior professionals and promotes a culture of integrity and diligence.

Beyond the office, she is also a proud wife and mother, balancing a demanding legal career with her family life, with love and dedication. She approached both her family and career with the same sense of purpose and care, bringing a thoughtful and grounded perspective to everything she does – proving that it is possible to lead with strength and compassion in every area of life, both in and outside the courtroom.
